Hibiscus and Clove Tea – Ancient Egyptian and Indian Medicine

Context & Origin:
Hibiscus tea was consumed in ancient Egypt for its cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Cloves, used in Indian Ayurveda, contain eugenol, a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of dried hibiscus petals
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 cup of hot water
  • 1 teaspoon of honey (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Steep hibiscus and cloves in hot water for 10 minutes.
  2. Strain and add honey if desired.
