Context & Origin:
Used in medieval Europe and by early herbalists, cabbage poultices were a common remedy for joint pain and swelling. Cabbage contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds, including glutamine, which reduces swelling and pain.
Ingredients:
- 2–3 fresh cabbage leaves
- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (optional)
Instructions:
- Crush the cabbage leaves to release their juices.
- Place them over inflamed joints or muscles.
- Secure with a cloth and leave for 30 minutes.
