Context & Origin:
Hippocrates, the father of medicine (460–370 BC), prescribed oxymel, a vinegar and honey-based tonic, for inflammation, respiratory health, and digestion. Vinegar helps alkalize the body, while honey provides soothing and antimicrobial properties.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup of raw honey
- 1 teaspoon of ginger (grated)
- ½ teaspoon of turmeric
- ½ teaspoon of black pepper
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
Instructions:
- Mix all ingredients in a jar.
- Shake well and let it infuse for 24 hours.
- Take 1 tablespoon daily, diluted in water if needed.
